The much delayed but widely expected US-Israeli attack on Iran has begun in the early hours of February 28, 2026.
What we know so far:
1. The launch of the attacks are a coordinated US and Israeli project.
2. Iran has been hit in multiple cities including an all-girl elementary school where scores are dead.
3. Iran has retaliated with missile strikes against US and Israeli targets. throughout the Middle East, including a number of US military bases receiving critical hits.
4. The Iranian government has, as of 9:30 ET, closed the Strait of Hormuz.
5. Russia and China are calling for an immediate session of the UN Security Council.
6. US President Donald Trump's planned speech to the American audience has been cancelled amid retaliatory strikes by Iran on multiple American military bases and surveillance installations.
This war will either see an end in a couple of days, or drag multiple countries and groups into a protracted war that has the potential of reshaping the Middle East and the surrounding region.
