• The member States of the Gulf Cooperation Council tabled a draft resolution (S/2026/273) before the UN Security Council on 7 April 2026. This text proclaims that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no right to close the Strait of Hormuz — or that of Bab el-Mandeb — to international navigation, nor to deprive the peoples of the world of these essential resources for life.
